The Whirlpool AP51030K is one of the most powerful air purifiers on the market today. It is the upgraded version of the very highly rated Whirlpool 450, and is now able to clean the air in an even larger area. The '510' in the name signifies its ability to purify air in a space as large as 510 square feet, which is a room approximately 22'X23' in size. This is true HEPA filtration at its best.
The revolutionary HEPA (High-Efficiency Particulate Arresting) filtration technology utilized in the 510 is able to filter out 99.97% of particles 0.3 microns or larger. This includes dust, pollen, pet dander, dust mites and other allergens and irritants. A carbon (charcoal) pre-filter cleans the air of larger particles before it enters the HEPA filter. It's recommended the carbon filter be changed every three months and that the HEPA filter be replaced annually. There is an indicator light for each to warn when changes should be made.
The Whirlpool AP51030K is 'whisper quiet' and meant to be run on a continual basis. There are four speeds to the fan and a special sleep mode function that, when activated, will set the fan to the lowest (and quietest) speed for a period of eight hours. After eight hours time it will resume to the speed at which it was operating before the sleep mode was initiated.

This is a quiet and attractive appliance that comes in a neutral, off-white color. It has built in cord storage and a built in handle for easy transport. It's capable of cleaning the air in a 510 square foot room about five times per hour. The CADR (clean air delivery rate) is quite impressive at 330 for both dust and smoke and 288 for pollen. Controls are soft touch and fully electronic (digital). The unit is Energy Star rated for low electric consumption.
